This is the self-portrait that sparked 'My Stealthy Freedom,' a viral social media campaign. Masih, a world-class journalist from a traditional village, grew up with her mother, a tailor and respected figure in the community, challenging cultural norms by refusing to wear the compulsory hijab in Iran. As a teenager, Masih was arrested for political activism and later discovered she was pregnant while in custody. After marrying and moving to Tehran, she was served divorce papers, shaming her conservative family. Masih spent nine years in exile, fighting to regain custody of her only son and leaving her homeland behind.
