The Best of Me

The possibility of enduring love was a shared hope among many. One person who once held this belief was eighteen-year-old Amanda Collier, who, in the spring of 1984, fell deeply and irrevocably in love with fellow high school student Dawson Cole. Despite their contrasting backgrounds, their love appeared to defy the constraints of their small town, Oriental, North Carolina. However, as their final year of high school drew to a close, unforeseen circumstances would drive them apart and send them down vastly different paths.

Presently, twenty-five years later, both Amanda and Dawson are called back to Oriental for the funeral of Tuck Hostetler, the kind mentor who sheltered their teenage romance. Neither of them has lived the life they had envisioned and the overpowering memories of their intense first love continue to haunt them. As they carry out Tuck's final instructions, they come to the realization that everything they believed to be true about themselves and their love may not be entirely accurate.
